We sat down with Betty Jean, RN, to learn how <a href=\"https:\/\/medely.com\/\">Medely<\/a> has helped her earn extra cash, meet new health professionals, and find the flexibility she needs in her schedule.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Betty\u2019s healthcare journey&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Betty\u2019s parents are both retired nurses, so she believes that growing up in a family with both parents in healthcare helped get her to where she is today. \u201cI feel like, honestly, truly, it\u2019s embedded in my genes. Both of my parents are retired nurses, so that\u2019s all I knew,\u201d Betty shares. Not only did having nurses as parents help push her toward becoming a nurse, but her passion for helping others made it clear that nursing would be a promising career. Betty is motivated to provide the best care for her patients and is passionate about making sure her patients are listened to. \u201cI do like helping a lot of people,\u201d Betty shares. \u201cAdvocating for the patient often, especially those patients who do not speak English. English is my first language, but I do speak another language. So, I feel like I can voice the concerns and needs of those patients, especially.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks to her ability to advocate for her patients&#8217; needs, she\u2019s been able to provide excellent care to her patients. During the pandemic, one particular patient experience sticks out to her as one that helped her confirm she was in the right career. \u201cThere was a gentleman, a patient of mine. He seemed well,\u201d Betty shares. \u201cAnd I just felt like I advocated for him tremendously because he was like, \u2018I don&#8217;t feel well.\u2019 The doctors and the people were saying, \u2018Oh, he&#8217;s fine. He has COVID.\u2019 I&#8217;m like, \u2018No, there&#8217;s something wrong with him.\u2019 And at that moment, I saw my father in his face, and then I just escalated it.\u201d Thanks to her quick thinking and advocacy for her patient, she was able to help save his life.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Freedom and flexibility with Medely<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When Betty was looking to make some extra money, a friend told her about Medely, so she decided to give it a try. \u201cI needed the extra money, but I didn&#8217;t want to do something on a strict schedule. Not only does Medely offer Betty flexibility in her work life, but it also offers her flexibility in her spending. If she wants a little extra cash for purchases or even bills, she can easily pick up a shift and make some extra money. Medely\u2019s multiple weekly payouts make it easy for her to see her cash quickly, even if she just picked up the shift a couple of days before. \u201cIf I know I want to buy something on Friday, I pick up a shift on Wednesday. By Friday, that money&#8217;s in the account,\u201d Betty shares. \u201cI love it. I can really plan for my purchases and bills and whatever, but you&#8217;re guaranteed the money at a certain time. You don&#8217;t have to wait like two weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since deciding to go back to school to be a CRNA, picking up shifts with Medely has allowed her to meet health professionals who have been encouraging and helpful as she starts her journey. \u201cWorking with Medely, you interact with different healthcare professionals, and they&#8217;re very motivating. They&#8217;re very encouraging.
