We sat down with Mike Rhodes, vice president of operations and compliance at Among Friends Adult Day Care Inc., to talk about his experience using Medely. Mike uses Medely on an as-needed basis to keep his facility compliant with state staffing regulations and able to quickly address any shortages or lack of appropriate coverage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maintaining compliance  <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Due to state requirements, Mike\u2019s facility must have at least six hours of coverage to remain compliant, though he prefers to extend it closer to eight. These requirements led Mike to turn to local agencies to find coverage when needed. \u201cWe have staff nurses and occasionally they need time off. I tried a couple of local agencies, and they just couldn’t get anybody for me,\u201d Mike shared. \u201cAnd again, we\u2019re kind of on an as-needed basis. And, it didn\u2019t work.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After local agencies left him still needing coverage, he turned to Google to find a better solution. As Mike was onboarding with Medely, he was experiencing serious staffing gaps that needed to be filled quickly. With the hands-on assistance of his account executive, Taylor, he was able to learn how to post shifts and find coverage so he could be self-sufficient in the future. \u201cI had a tremendous need for a few days. My rep, Taylor, walked me through. I was still onboarding and getting used to the platform. She held my hand to make sure that we got everything posted the way it should have been,\u201d Mike shared. Taylor was able to ensure all of Mike\u2019s questions were answered promptly, even assisting him in setting up a template for posting shifts to make the process quicker in the future, reducing the time he had to spend entering facility details. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c[It takes] 20 seconds because she set me up with a template, which is fantastic because it’s got all my data in there. All I really need to do is set the time.\u201d<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

When Mike was first getting started, he had a situation with a last-minute Medely nurse cancellation, but his account executive went above and beyond in finding a replacement. \u201cOne of the days, the Medely nurse canceled at the last minute. Taylor was quick to do the best she could to find a replacement, including adding a bonus on Medely\u2019s behalf to try and rectify the situation,\u201d Mike shares. \u201cIt was the side-by-side partnership to try and get a nurse in that secured our relationship right there.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pre-vetted nurses and health professionals<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When Mike turned to local agencies the first time, one of his main complaints was how long it took. Waiting for agencies to vet every person is a lengthy process, and when an urgent need arises, it\u2019s important to have someone ready to pick up a shift at a moment\u2019s notice.
