The effects of high patient volumes and fewer available staff aren\u2019t just adding extra stress to facility managers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These challenges are directly impacting patients. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As facilities scramble to address these issues, which continue to compound. Patients are unable to access the care they need due to lowered bed availability, high staff-to-patient ratios, or, in extreme cases, entire facilities shutting down. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unfortunately, these obstacles are common. Behavioral health facilities are entering a new wave of challenges when it comes to staffing. The need for specialized care is expanding, and in states like California<\/a>, the government is cracking down on staffing ratios. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order to maintain operability, behavioral health facilities are pivoting to solutions that allow them to work with these changes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Nestled Recovery Center<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Nestled Recovery Center<\/a>, a drug and alcohol detox center located in Nevada, has been experiencing staffing strains since 2022, which is what led them to Medely. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We spoke with Dawn Hillock, director of nursing, to learn more about how she\u2019s used Medely to address staffing gaps, eliminating any staffing problems before they impact patients. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dawn recently joined The Nestled Recovery Center back in January, and the facility had been posting shifts to Medely for years. With little onboarding, she was able to seamlessly adjust to Medely\u2019s system for filling shifts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou guys are consistent and fill our staffing needs,\u201d Dawn shared. \u201cMedely’s really helped me in finding quality nurses on short notice because usually it’s call-outs or changes in the schedule that we need Medely for.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a drug and alcohol detox center<\/a>, The Nestled Recovery Center has strict requirements for nurses and health professionals. The sensitive care the facility provides requires that nurses and health professionals have a solid background in this specialty to avoid imbalances or lapses in care. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have a challenging population working in a drug and alcohol facility,\u201d Dawn shared. \u201cI need to fill in those gaps when I get call-outs and need reliable nurses who want the positions and are asking to be staffed.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The need for consistency with behavioral health facilities<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As DON, Dawn\u2019s priority is consistency for her patient population, so relying on Medely\u2019s favorites feature has been key to maintaining that consistency and top-quality care. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Consistency is necessary for positive patient outcomes, and this especially rings true for behavioral health. \u201cThe nurses we’ve gotten are excellent and work well and integrate well with our full-time staff,\u201d Dawn shared. \u201cOne of our favorites, Marquita, went above and beyond to go into our stock medications and label which ones were expiring. She goes above and beyond. Another one of our favorites, Hayley, also goes above and beyond, and she will do anything asked of her. She’s always asking for new challenges and new things she can help me with.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
