Q: How did you get into healthcare? 
A: “Ever since I was a child, I wanted to be a nurse. I actually started as a nurse in 1972 as an LVN. Then, I went to the University of Texas and graduated in 1987. I just went straight into the operating room, and then I just went up through the ranks of charge nurse, coordinator, and I became a manager and a director at the hospital. Then, I decided to leave the hospital and go to an ASC in Westlake Village, where I was there for four years. One of the doctors that worked there recruited me to be his director of nursing here, where I currently am.”

Q: Why did you start using Medely? 
A: “Well, I knew Medely from my previous job at a specialty surgery center. So I came to DLV, where I am now, and already had an account set up with Medely. So, I continued to use Medely. I don’t use any other registry.” 

Q: Was there a moment that you realized Medely was working well for you?
A: “I think it’s just always worked well. I’ve never really had an issue with it.”

Q: How much time do you save by using Medely? 
A: “When I need a position filled, it generally is filled within the first two or three days at most. I pretty much put the request in and then check it once or twice. That’s about it.”

Q: Is there anything that surprised you about using Medely? 
A: “I think what surprised me is the people that have worked in the operating room. We’ve only had three or four people that have come that have operating room experience, and it surprised me that they were able to integrate very quickly with very little direction.” 

Q: How would you describe the professionals you’ve booked through Medely? 
A: “Very professional.” 

Q: Has using Medely professionals impacted or changed the quality of care you provide? 
A: “At times, it does. We only use registry when we really need it, so absolutely, it fills a need. We use them in pre-op and also the operating room, so it just helps the staffing shortage.”

Q: Do you have any stories that stand out to you about a time when Medely helped you find staff quickly? 
A: “We’ve had a girl named Rosie that’s been here several times who has been super good. I mean, we’ve all really enjoyed her personality as well as her teamwork and her ability to keep things moving in sterile processing.”

Q: Is there anything you want to add that I haven’t covered? 
A: “Overall, we’re very pleased with working with Medely, and I find it extremely easy to post open positions. And we do use the bonus feature as well. When we’re really in need, something like tomorrow, we will add a bonus, which is a nice feature.”
